Tidung Island is located Northwest from Jakarta and can be reached via Ferry (about a 3-hour ride) or via Speedboad (1hour ride) from Kali Adem Terminal, Muara Angke. The ferry or Speedboad leave around 7:00 to 8:00am. From time to time, there is traffic jam to the harbor especially during the weekend or holiday season. So make sure you have plenty of cusion time get to the harbor. Alternatively, you can also catch a speed boat from Ancol Marina Harbor (1.5 hour ride). Nevertheless, via Ancol the ticket is much more expensive and also you have to pay for the enterance to Ancol.
Lodgings and amenities are found only in the main island of Tidung Besar, while the smaller island is almost uninhabited and is mostly mangrove forest. Although a relatively low-cost island adventure, Tidung is not short of things to do. Snorkelling would be your obvious first step, and is what the island is most famous for. Equipment is readily available for a closer look into the turquoise waters and the scores of active little fishes darting about the coral formations. Life jackets are also available for the more aquatic-challenged visitors
